Indianapolis – The America China Society of Indiana (ACSI) announced its newly formed trade organization today at the Skyline Club in downtown Indianapolis. ACSI, founded by Albert Chen, Telamon CEO, and Ryan Hou, LHP, Inc. President, is focused on promoting cooperative business, trade and investment opportunities between Indiana and China.

Albert Chen, ACSI Chairman, said that ACSI will become Indiana’s advocate and catalyst in the development of business opportunities between Indiana and China. “Indiana has abundant agricultural products, advanced bioscience, leading auto and IT technology that can be exported to China to fill and meet the tremendous market demand. China can make investment in Indiana in producing consumer goods and industrial parts and use the Crossroads of America for our tremendous logistics advantages.”

Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard and Wang Zhongqi, China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Light Industry chairman, spoke at the event.

“There are very promising opportunities between Indiana and China, so there’s no better time than now for this organization to get off ground to help strengthen our relationships,” said Governor Daniels.

Eighteen Chinese dignitaries and business leaders from 14 companies joined ACSI’s kick-off event, meeting with state and local economic development representatives, Indiana business leaders and not-for-profit members in support of this new organization. As part of the kick-off, ACSI also presented a workshop on business opportunities in China and Indiana. A matchmaker event followed the workshop for interested Indiana parties to meet with the business delegates from China.

“Strong local and international community partners, like the America China Society of Indiana, are essential in creating jobs in this global economy,” said Mayor Greg Ballard. “Through our sister-city relationship with Hangzhou, China, we welcome the opportunities to strengthen our business partnerships as well as the increased opportunity for cultural exchange and education.”

Founded in June, 2010, ACSI is a membership-based organization supported by vested individuals, corporations and economic development groups. Bingham McHale and FairWinds Advisors were Founding Members along with Telamon Corporation, LHP, Inc. and First Merchants Bank. Jenny Massey serves as Vice President, Carmen Hendrixson as Secretary and John Skelton serves as Treasurer of the organization.

ACSI provides members with educational seminars, workshops and exclusive networking opportunities. ACSI will work to strengthen the business relationship between Indiana and China, cultivate leadership in business and foster cultural respect.
